Baina Beach in Goa
Baina Beach, one among the most gorgeous beaches of Goa, is situated in Mormugao, the harbour town of Vasco Da Gama. This beach is large and crescent shaped and is located in close proximity to Vasco city, at a distance of 1km approximately. This beach is very calm and peaceful and also safe to indulge in swimming.
This lovely beach is known for its calm atmosphere but it is not commercialized. Therefore, you would not be able to find many shacks or other facilities here. Being one among the cleanest beaches in Goa, this beach is a perfect spot to hang around with family or friends. However, at noon, it gets too hot to relax and lie down as you would not be able to find much shade.
The best time to visit the beach is at evening when it is a pleasurable experience to enjoy the incredible sunset view. Situated at a distance of just 2km away from the railway station of Vasco, this beach offers splendid views and you would feel close to nature. When compared to most other beaches in Goa which are maintained well and have become dirty, this beach is maintained in an excellent condition.
The part of the beach to the right of the entrance contains slums and so is usually filled with garbage, but the left part is cleaner. This is one of the best beaches in Goa especially because it was given ample opportunity for rehabilitation.
Surrounding AreasTo the right of the beach is Zuari Nagar hill that is now developing quickly into a housing area for workers of factories. Towards the left of the beach is the Dabolim plateau on top of which is the Dabolim airport situated. The beach is famous for being an excellent tourist place of Goa and it is surrounded on both its sides by hills.
Highlights of the Beach
Since 2004, the Baina Beach has started emerging as a great holiday beach destination for families. You would absolutely love taking long walks with your loved ones alongside the beach shore. If you are a person who loves adventure, you can choose enjoyable water sport activities such as swimming.
This tourist spot has many cultural programs taking place in addition to the various water sports. At present, this beach is popular for new constructions and real estate and has gained renown for being the only beach with underwater facility for sea walk in India. This beach is a great tourist attraction because of its special underwater facilities and scenic beauty.
Adding to the appealing factors of the Baina Beach, there are plenty of Kerala and Ayurvedic massage centers all around it. These massages are very soothing and they would help you unwind and relax calmly as well as get revived.
At this beach, you can also enjoy various beach festivals and shop for really exquisite traditional Goa crafts obtained in many shops close to the beach. This beach is situated in Baina village which is equally calm and serene and you can visit the place for a leisurely walk. The cleanliness and calmness of the beach attracts visitors but there should be promotion from the government in order to attract more tourists to the beach.
If you want to relish a quiet stroll in the morning or evening, then this beach is the ideal spot for you to go and the crowd is also less here. This beach is nice and has plenty of scope for more development which can be done by the local government to make it attract even more tourists. This small beach is used mainly by fisher folk and locals and there are no vendors.
The nice atmosphere of the beach makes it suitable to people to have fun with their families and little children also enjoy playing here. A small portion of this beach is apt for swimming and it is one among the top Goa beaches, provided it undergoes more beautification and development. The Department of Tourism has goals of developing the Baina beach into one of the major attractions of Goa.
This beach is easily accessible from the town of Vasco through all forms of transport. The beach gives a nice and picturesque view of Pequeno Island (which is also called Bat Island). Cleanliness should be well maintained all through the year, and then when the greatly awaited 'Baina beach development or beautification' takes place, we can expect permanent shacks & decent hotels nearby.
This beach has a good number of tourists visiting it but it requires cleaning and some improvement in its infrastructure. This beach also has the finest views of many deserted islands and a boat service to take you on a tour, where you also get to see dolphins. Even though this beach is quite average and a small beach with not many activities in it, the few crowds in it make it a perfect location to enjoy a solitary and peaceful evening.
The water here is very pleasant and you get beautiful views of the sunset from here. This beach is especially not much crowded if you visit it in the month of December and you will enjoy the ambience. Yet, you must keep in mind that there are no taxi stands around, so you will have to book your own taxis.
Nearby Bat IslandAt a distance of just one kilometer from this beach is the famous Bat Island lying in the sea. You can see this island rising out of the sea from the Baina beach itself. This island was once a favorite tourist destination but in recent years, the Indian Navy has taken control over the island, so access to the island is now restricted.
